山海の佐兵が畑で働き、日暮れになったので天秤棒を担ぎ帰路に着くと、頭の上を烏が「サヒョーグワ」と鳴きながら飛んでいった。佐兵はそのまま家に帰ったが、帰ってから畑に鍬を忘れてきたことに気づいた。取りに戻ろうとすると、庭で飼っている鶏が、「トッテコー」と鳴いた。佐兵はすぐに畑へ鍬を取りにもどったという。

伊達政宗が二本松城を攻めたとき、鶏石が鶏の鳴き声をしたので夜が開けたと思い兵を引き上げたといわれている。

shinmei sama しんめいさま - Kumano Shinmei 熊野神明
志賀家では熊野神明といっていた。あるとき、この家に近所のにわとりがはいったら、奥座敷で大変な物音がした。神明様が怒ったのだといい、にわとりを追い出して塩で家中を清めたという。今でもこの家では肉食せず、にわとりを飼わない。

目が不自由な志賀家のばあさんがしんめい祈祷することで眼病がなおり、身体が丈夫になった。それで御神体を譲り受け、自宅で拝むようになった。ばあさんの死後、神棚にあげておいたが、しんめいは歩くのが好きな神であるから、隣３軒ぐらいは歩かせねばならないといい、信仰したい人が借りに来て、今は北海道のあたりをまわっているという。これを熊の神明といっている。この家へにわとりが入ったら、奥座敷で物音がした。しんめいさまが怒ったのだという。

At the old family home of the 渡邊 Watanabe there was a 神明宮 Shinmei Shrine venerating the deity Shinmei Sama.
Eventually there was no successor to the family line to care for the Shrine. So Shinmei Sama called on Fudo for help and sent an old blind man to continue the worship.

鎌田宅のしんめい様は出歩くのが好きな神様で、持ち歩くと気分がさっぱりし、動作が活発になり疲れを感じないという。また、この神様を持っているとどこへ行っても食うに困ることはない。肩こり・頭の悪い人はこれでさすってもらえば、さすった人もさすられた人もはればれした気持ちになる。この神をもちあるくのは女で、独身者が多い。
