Once Kukai asked for some negi 葱 leek, but the farmer did not give him any.
The next day all the leek had dried and nothing would grow on the field any more.
Another time he came to a river where an old woman washed potatoes and daikon 大根 radish. He asked her to give him some but she only gave him a dirty potatoe.
Soon after the water in the river did not flow any more.
