The master of the Dragon King Pond is said to be a beautiful woman, who had come from 五反田 Gotanda to live here.
To performe rain rituals, the priest from Gotanda comes to the embankment to pray and then throws his priest's stole into the sea.
He can do this only once. If villagers ask to do it again, the priest will die.

In the Dragon Pond there once lived daija 大蛇 a lage serpent which had come from 黒髪山 Mount Kurokami.
To drive the serpent out, Tametomo shot an arrow into the sky and observed that it fell down at the kimon 鬼門 "demon gate" Northern side of the pond at the village 古野村 Konomura.
This place became a bamboo grove and exists to our day.

More than half way up 大佐山 Mount Osa san there is 竜王池 a Dragon King Pond where ryuujin 龍神 a Dragon King lives.
Sometimes people see 白蛇 a white serpent swimming in the lake.
When the pond has dried out, the dragon king moved to 赤松の池に the Akamatsu Pond at the foot of the mountain.

At 大佐神社 the Shrine Osa Jinja the dragon king (large serpent) is venerated.
